Athena Guest House

Charming rooms in striking distance of most areas.

Pros: This is a nicely kept, secure room with part-time desk service and daily turn down. Everything that needs to work, works! Transport connections are fairly good from here; buses within a few hundred metres run in several directions, including to the nearest metro if you don't want to walk the 10mins there. Reasonable restaurants/cafes, etc within a few mins.

Cons: Some noise from outside every night may disturb light-sleepers. This is common to any building of this type. Luckily, this is a fairly quiet street.

We are so grateful…

Pros: Such a lovely, comfortable stay here. We had 3 nights and felt right at home. Spacious and clean. Lots of character to the interior too, which was a bonus (if you’re an art lover!). Self check in/ out, which wasn’t an issue, with communication from the host via WhatsApp. Any queries we had were answered pretty quickly, so couldn’t fault them. One thing to really emphasise is the honesty and helpfulness of the host. Myself and my partner had realised after leaving that we had left a fair amount of euros in the safe. This was quickly rectified and the host kindly transferred the sum to us. We were unbelievably grateful for their honesty!! The location is great for exploring Rome, with 2 stations a 10 min walk away from Athena Guest House, with lots of lovely restaurants local to us with a great atmosphere. Thanks again for a brilliant stay! Highly recommend if you’re considering booking ✔️

Pros: The room was well decorated and very clean. The guest house had some additional amenities like guide books and board games. Overall excellent value for money.

Cons: Despite exchanging texts with the guest house owner prior to our arrival at the hotel, we didn't receive any information on how to access the property once we arrived. Because of this we had to wait around 30 minutes to check in. But when they did respond, they were very friendly and helpful.

Pros: It was so clean and in walking distance to every thing, we literally only caught a bus once and that was to get to the property. Check in was super easy

Pros: The room is really spacious, the bed is large and comfortable. It is a great location, local, nice neighbourhood, good cafes and local restaurants nearby, right by a small local food market too. Not too far from the Vatican and the historic centre with a bus ride or long walk. It's fairly quiet.

Cons: A slight smell or dam, but it was also raining a lot, so that may well account for it.

Pros: I come in Rome since 2013, 2-3 times per year and I can say this was one of the best room I stayed in. Everything was comfortable, the bed, the bathroom, even the floor which is made of real wooden parquet. And the room was very clean also. The location is also good, 10-15 min walk to the metro station and Vatican, and 15-20 min of Stadio Olimpico (I actually ' ve chosen for the proximity to the stadium 🙂. When I entered the room, I found a small basket with croissants, pancakes, coffe , tea, and a refrigerator with yogurts and even a cold bottle of water, everything at your disposal.

Comfortable and very clean

Pros: The room was large, comfortable and very clean, it exceeded our expectations. There was a good selection of snacks and coffee making facilities. The location was outside the main tourist area but just 10 minutes walk from the nearest tube station (Occtaviano). We loved the location because it was close enough that we could walk places and often past the Vatican. The restaurants nearby were plentiful and probably the best we ate in on our 10 day tour of various Italian cities. The owner was very helpful and accommodating as was Mark who looked after us during our stay. We would definitely come again

It is a good place to stay in when you are in Rome. Staff is frendly friendly and helpful.

Pros: It was clean, spacious, quiet and the staff was very nice. We had a really good time there.
