Villa Matissa

Very cosy and not in the crazy busy centre made this a very restful time away. We would come back!

Pros: The location of the guest house was ideal. It was a direct connection from the train station via tram to a five minute walk from the guest house itself. We were maybe five minutes walking from the centre of Trastevere. But a tram was also available a few steps away to the centre. The room was ideal, with very comfortable bed and clean room. There is also a very beautiful garden and terrace available for when the weather is good. Silvio was a very good host. He was Kind and helpful and also available via WhatsApp for any questions. Trastervere was a very fun area to be in for restaurants and bars.

Cons: We had no downsides to our visit at all.

Pros: Silvio is a very kind and attentive host. We felt very comfortable, and the location of the villa is ideal. Silvio was always available to answer our questions and was very knowledgeable. All the sights are within walking distance or easily accessible by public transport. The next time we visit Rome, we will book this beautiful and quiet accommodation in Trastevere again.

Pros: Relaxed and friendly in the best sort of way. A beautiful villa in a quiet part of Trastavere. The host, Silvio, made you feel welcomed immediately and helped with booking an excellent local restaurant.

Cons: Nothing wrong. Perhaps that we didn’t find enough time to spend in the lovely garden.

Pros: After the chaos of Rome, we loved the privacy and beauty of the garden and terrace. Our host was a great help in arranging drivers from the train station and to the airport at the end of our stay. Our room and bathroom were very comfortable.

Pros: fantastico ! best place to sleep during the visit in Rome Hidden gem, place in a quiet neighborhood, friendly and helpful owner offers help with everything you need to know about transportation and local restaurant's, easy and accessible bus just out side....and the lovely gardens that give rest for the mind after long tour day what a place !

Pros: We had a lovely time staying at Villa Matissa. Silvio was an amazing host and had recommendations for the best places to get food nearby which were spot on and he arranged our reservations and airport transfers. The villa is in a great location, a short walk away from all the food offerings of Trastevere. You can easily get a tram or bus into the centre of Rome as well but we ended up walking everywhere anyway as it wasn't that far. We loved sitting out in the lovely garden in the mornings and the evenings with Sam the cat. We highly recommend Villa Matissa and will stay here again if we manage to return to Rome.

We had an excellent week in Rome. Provision of Breakfast in the property would make us return.

Pros: The strong points were: 1 - The owner / manager of the property was very friendly, efficient in resolving any issues and helped us in any possible way providing us with good transport from / to Fiumucino Airport, good indications for places to eat, instruction about urban transport, among others; 2 - The location is excellent in Via Dandolo.

Cons: The lack of breakfast served in the property is a detractor, but the availability of places nearby where we could go out for breakfast mitigated the issue.

Clean, convenient and in a safe neighbourhood near the trendy Trastevere eating district.

Pros: We wanted to stay away from the busy historical city centre and in the trendy Trastevere neighbourhood. Villa Matissa was just a 5min walk away from all the eateries so it was quieter but very convenient. Silvio was attentive yet discreet and very helpful.

Cons: The room was a little spartan but the cleanliness and daily servicing kept it very pleasant. The doors are heavy and sleep might be disturbed if you have inconsiderate fellow travellers. Nothing that is Silvio’s doing though.
